Over the past years, due to the impact of global climate change, the phenomenon of high tide experiences more and more seriously, Ho Chi Minh City - the southern economic key is also affected by high tide with more than 70 flood-prone points in districts, where the deepest flood is up to 60 cm.

Nha Be Oil Terminal is located in low-lying areas of Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City, which is also severely affected by high tide. The average elevation ranges from 1.4 m to 1.6 m and is often flooded during high tide, in some places flooded up to 50 cm, greatly impacting production and business activities, potentially causing insecurity for people, machinery and the environment...

To ensure safety in all aspects of production and business, with the consent of the Group, Petrolimex Saigon has implemented a flood prevention project with the construction of a 900m dyke wall along the riverbank combined with fences and patrol path; 400m water collection ditches and culverts which are connected to the existing drainage system and tidal barrier valves. Setting up an flooding-proof pump tunnel with a capacity of 400m3 and installing two submersible pumps with a capacity of 400m3/hour/pump.

Operated from September 30, 2020, the system is fully automated with low operating costs. Through the flood tide reaching a peak of +1.75 m on November 17, 2020, the project has been tested and brought into very good results: Warehouse A is completely dry, no more flooded, business operations become safer.
