Kien Giang People's Committee has just awarded certificate of merit and medal to Petrolimex Saigon Co., Ltd. and Mr. Nguyen Van Canh – Deputy Director of Petrolimex Saigon about many achievements in the activities of “For Poor people” and social security in Kien Giang Province.

Beside the trading cooperation between Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) which is directly Petrolimex Saigon with Kien Giang Province has been socio-economically efficient for many years; the work for poor people and social security in Kien Giang Province have always been focused with specific and practical activities by Petrolimex and Petrolimex Saigon.
With authorization of Petrolimex, Petrolimex Saigon has committed to Kien Giang People’s Committee on financing 5 billion Vietnamese dongs to invest the public worksin the difficult regions of Kien Giang Province in the period 2010-2015.
From April 2010 to now, Petrolimex Saigon has financed 11 projects with a total value of over 2,6 billion Vietnamese dongs: building 5 preschools, 5 concrete bridges, 1 rural traffic road; and supporting to build in the embankment for protection against avalanches. These works which have been contributed to share and reduce the difficulties in people’s lives are acknowledged and appreciated by Party, Government and local people.
Petrolimex and Kien Giang Province have established long-term and steadily cooperative relationship over past 30 years. Initially, through general agency form of Petrolimex, Petrolimex Saigon and Kien Giang Trade & Tourism Company (KTC) organize to implement. This cooperation is evaluated to get highly effective in both economic and social aspects.
Before the retail network of KTC has only been 7 petroleum stations with selling about 15.000 cubic meters per year; up to now, KTC is over 150 retail petroleum stations in their distribution network (with 21 owned retail stations); covers almost districts and hinterlands with selling over 180.000 cubic meters per year.
This distribution network has contributed to stabilize the market, satisfying the needs of petroleum timely to serve the life of people; developing socio-economic and ensuring defense – security in Kien Giang Province in the past time.
In 2005, the relationship between Petrolimex and Kien Giang People's Committee has been upgradedand developed. The project "Developing to carry on the business of petroleum in Kien Giang Province" was officially signed by Petrolimex and KTC. In 2007, the two sides have studied in oil terminal investment project at Kien Luong – Ha Tien. In September 2011, Kien Giang Petroleum Company Limited (PKC) was established with an initially registered capital of 100 billion Vietnamese dongs (Petrolimex: 51%; KTC: 49%).

Continue to deploy the practical and meaning activities, early 2013 Petrolimex Saigon has implemented the projects which are surveyed and united with Fatherland Front Committee of Kien Giang Province, consisting of: building the new Dat Go 2 Channel bridge which is connected between Thanh Yen and Hoa Chanh (U Minh Thuong district) with a total cost of over 200 million Vietnamese dongs; building 6 classrooms of preschools in Phong Dong (Vinh Thuan district), Van Khanh (An Minh district) and Hung Yen (An Bien) with a total estimated cost of about 1 billion Vietnamese dongs.
These works will be completed to open in the new school year 2013-2014, facilitating better to learn and study for more than 500 children who there are the difficult families at local.
