Mr. Nguyen Van Canh – Deputy Director of company said, in recent years, Petrolimex Saigon has pushed up investment in modernization, taking automated equipments into the oil depots to manage the petrol quality as well as to ensure fire fighting safety and to protect the environment, to ensure stable business, to focus on consumers’ benefits. Only in the past two years, Petrolimex Saigon has invested in improving fire protection system in Zone A and Zone B, including 4 fire pump stations and 14 pumps with a total capacity of over 200 cubic meter/hour. In particular, each depot has a cool water system and a oil fighting fire foam spray system. In 2012, put to use fire fighting Zone A, achieve 90%of the mass with two pump stations, 6 pumps with a total capacity of 1,500 cubic meter/hour. Install Monitor at Zone B, C and upcoming install at Zone A to ensure availability the fastest fire, renovate and upgrade 2 tugboats with fire fighting on the river and wharf areas.
Environmental protection awareness is an important problem in the chain of production and business activities, in 2010, Petrolimex Saigon invested to upgrade wastewater treatment systems in Zone A and Chemical Zone in order to treat wastewater to ensure the current environmental standards before poured out Nha Be river. The Company has delivered forCommercial and Engineering Services Enterprise toinvestThe Hazardous Waste Treatment Plantwith a capacity of 500 tons per year to handle hazardous waste by laws. It is expected that in the near future Petrolimex Saigon will raise its capacity up and invest in more modern technology for this Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant.
In 2011, Petrolimex Saigon completed to install and put into oil crank float system available 24/24 hours on the river to ensure the environment if happens to spill oil, fully equipped modern machines and equipments with 4 tugboats, barges, over 2000 meter the oil float, pumping suction apparatus and the absorbent materials in oil spill. Perform a full environmental impact assessment, periodic environmental monitoring and environmental procedures with Ministry or Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and the authorities. In 2 years (2012-2013), Petrolimex Saigon will contruct the wastewater treatment system in Zone D and the rest along with upgrading and completing oil depot infrastructure.
Besides, the company also focuses on the management work, safety inspection, and safety training for departments, divisions. To make this work, from July 2009, the company has established Technical Safety and Environment Department with management functions about safety work of petroleum contructions, fire prevention, environment and labour safety. Technical Safety and Environment Department has implemented the comprehensive management of safety from instructing units in order to fully implement processes and standards in the oil depots, to organize safety inspections by quarterly, 6 months and a year, from the fully realized processes, operational standards in oil depot safety testing organization, quarterly, 6 months and a year, promptly rectify the shortcomings and exists to prevent timely risks, unsafety incidents. Organize training courses onSafety and Environmental Hygiene, laboursafety, fire fighting skills and commanders for almost 1500 positions in the production line of the company; Organize to put into activities directly, ready fire fighting specializing responsible of the Company,rehearse with response oil spill incident; Besides, closely manage the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of hazardous waste of units; in collaboration with professional fire fighting forces to rehearse fire at oil depots, retail petroleum stations periodically.
